Part of our mission as a 501(c)3, AFL-CIO chartered Workers’ Center is to create a bridge between the building and construction trade unions and
members of our community, especially women of color, in Ward 20 though outreach and strategic partnerships with union-based pre-apprenticeship training programs. We are working with BUD (Building Union Diversity), a project of the Building and Construction Trades Council, along with individual unions (Painters, Laborers, Sheet Metal Workers, etc.) to help break down barriers and identify applicants interested in a career in the building trades.
