In response to attacks on democracy, equality, human rights, and justice for all by Donald J. Trump and the conservative majority in Jefferson City, a historic movement has emerged. We come together to dismantle the barriers between us and organize our strength in numbers, educate and train our communities, and take direct action under the banner, “United We Stand: From Resistance to Opposition to Political Power.”
We recognize that the divisions created by nativism, racism, state violence, Islamophobia, sexism, transphobia, homophobia, and anti-Semitism threaten to destroy our democracy and divide our communities. They sap our ability to come together to win guarantees of living wages, healthcare, decent housing, quality education, voting rights, and the voices on our jobs that all Missourians deserve. We further recognize that by uniting through common understanding and commitment, we can build communities free of violence and oppression and a Missouri that works for everyone, not a privileged few.
We, the undersigned, are organizing the 2018 United We Stand - St. Louis Conference to bring together a broad array of organizations and individuals. We undertake this effort with one goal in mind: To form a united, organized, and sustained movement that can grow our numbers in the streets and translate it into an electoral movement at the ballot box that is capable of long-term social and political power.
